Finding ants on the counter, roaches in the bathroom, or hearing scratching in the walls can make any home feel uncomfortable. In a warm, humid place like Athens, pests are a common problem, especially in older homes, student rentals, and wooded neighborhoods. You do not have to live with that stress or try to figure it out alone.
Pest Authority of Athens, GA provides professional, local pest services to help restore comfort in your home. Our team listens to your concerns, inspects carefully, and recommends practical treatments that fit your space. We focus on safe applications and clear communication so you know what is happening in each room and around your yard.
If you are ready to get pests under control, our technicians can come to your home, look for causes, and discuss next steps so you can move forward with confidence.
Why Athens Homeowners Choose Our Team
When you invite a service into your home, you want to know they understand your specific neighborhood and property type.
Local Neighborhood Expertise: Our technicians work across Athens daily, from student housing near the University of Georgia campus to historic in-town bungalows and newer developments on the edge of the city. We recognize local pest patterns quickly, like exactly where ants trail in Georgia kitchens or how crawlspace moisture encourages roaches.
Comprehensive Solutions: We handle a wide range of insect and rodent problems so you only have to call one company. Whether it's spiders in the corners, ants along the baseboards, or mice in the pantry, we create one clear plan to address it all.
Customized, Smart Treatments: We never rely on a "one-size-fits-all" spray. We start with a meticulous inspection, identify entry points or food sources, and walk you through a targeted plan in plain language.
Respect for Your Time: Appointments are scheduled with clear arrival windows. Whether you need a one-time quick fix or ongoing seasonal peace of mind, we match our services to your schedule and budget.
Protect your family, your pets, and your property with Athens' trusted local pest team. Whether you need a quick one-time fix or year-round perimeter protection, we’ve got you covered. Get your free, no-obligation estimate today!
What To Do When You See Pests
Finding pests can feel overwhelming, but taking a few simple steps before your appointment can help our team solve the problem much faster.
1. Track the Activity
Notice where and when you see the pests. Are ants appearing mostly in the morning near the sink? Do you hear noises in the attic only at night? These details help our technicians narrow down the source.
Pro Tip: Avoid using heavy, over-the-counter DIY bug sprays right before we arrive. These can often drive pests deeper into your walls and interfere with our professional targeted treatments.
2. Keep Prep Simple
You do not need to deep clean your entire house. Lightly tidying around heavily affected areas, such as moving items off kitchen counters or away from baseboards, is plenty. If any specific preparation is needed, we will let you know well in advance.
3. Enjoy a Guided Inspection
When we arrive, your appointment will feel like a collaborative walkthrough, not a rushed spray. You can point out problem areas, ask safety questions, and share any concerns regarding children or pets.
Our Step-by-Step Pest Control Process
Our process is built to be straightforward and completely transparent from your very first phone call.
Step 1: Initial Consultation
When you call, we’ll ask a few quick questions about your home, the pests you've seen, and how long the issue has been occurring so our technician arrives fully prepared.
Step 2: Thorough Inspection
Our technician evaluates both the inside and outside of your property:
Inside: Kitchens, bathrooms, baseboards, attics, and accessible crawlspaces.
Outside: Foundation lines, door thresholds, heavy vegetation, and standing water.
Step 3: Customized Strategy
We outline a plain-language plan detailing exactly where we will treat, the products we will use, and any safety precautions to note. This is the perfect time to ask questions.
Step 4: Targeted Application
Interior: Precise crack-and-crevice treatments, baseboard applications, or secure bait placements out of reach of children and pets.
Exterior: Creating a protective barrier around your foundation, entry points, and outdoor pest habitats.
Step 5: Review & Prevention
Before leaving, we explain what to expect over the coming days (such as a temporary surge in pest movement as they die off) and provide long-term maintenance recommendations to prevent a recurrence.
Common Pests In Local Homes
The Georgia climate creates the perfect environment for a few recurring pests. Here is how we handle them:
Pest Type
Common Signs & Habits
Our Targeted Approach
Ants
Trails along countertops, windows, and foundations looking for moisture or food.
We track the trails back to the source and interrupt the colony rather than just spraying visible bugs.
Roaches
Hiding behind appliances, inside cabinets, or around plumbing access points.
We combine crack-and-crevice treatments with advanced baits and exclusion by sealing entry points.
Spiders
Webs in corners, garages, and basements. This is usually a sign that other insect food sources are nearby.
We clear away existing webbing and eliminate the insect food sources drawing them inside.
Rodents
Scratching in walls, droppings in cabinets, or gnawed wires and packaging.
We identify gaps near crawlspaces or utility lines, implement trapping or baiting, and discuss exclusion options.
Mosquitoes
Swarming in yards, breeding in standing water, clogged gutters, or heavy summer foliage.
We treat seasonal breeding zones and shade areas to help you comfortably reclaim your yard.

Ants: Barrier 360 prevents interior infestation of most ants. 80% of all pests enter from the exterior of your home. Fire ants and carpenter ants will require custom service. Call us for more details.
Termites: Termite control and elimination require an inspection and assessment by our technician. The process and protocol for termites depends on the extent of your infestation and damage. Call us for more details.
Fleas: Fleas can present a challenge, and a complete inspection of the interior of your home and adjacent property is required. Call us for more details.
Cockroaches: We can help you take back your property from cockroaches. Our Barrier 360 treatment around the outside of your home can prevent cockroaches from entering in the first place. In certain situations, a complete inspection of the interior of your home may be necessary.
Rodents: Our rodent protocol varies depending on the degree of infestation and type of rodent. An extensive inspection and evaluation must be performed both in the interior and exterior of your home
Bees (carpenter): An exterior inspection and evaluation of the exterior of your home or property is critical to determine the extent of an infestation. We can then provide the appropriate service to eradicate the Carpenter bee infestation.
Wasps and hornets: We can remove wasps and hornets from outside your home. And if they do make it inside, just give us a call and we will perform additional treatments at no extra cost.
Spiders: Our Barrier 360 treatment will protect your home from most types of spiders, but if they do get in, we will perform an interior treatment at no extra cost.
Bed bugs: We will perform a full inspection and assessment of your bed bug infestation to design a treatment and prevention plan.
Our exclusive Barrier 360 treatment is applied around the perimeter of your home, to prevent pests from getting in. Occasionally, as with bed bugs, rodents, and some other pests, we’ll need to work inside your home as well. Barrier 360 is an exterior treatment that guards against 11 pests from entering your home. If they get in, we will come in and treat them according to our service protocols.
